Nine tiles for the feed — why cut at all?
Moments and Xiaohongshu take at most nine images per post and display them as a grid: one tall image shows cropped and needs a tap to see whole. Cut a large image into nine centered squares and the nine tiles read as the original at a glance in the feed — while each tile still opens for detail.
Where do the cut-off parts go?
The tool takes the centered maximum square using the shorter side — the left/right edges (landscape) or top/bottom edges (portrait) outside the square are not in the nine. To keep edge content, compose with "Image Cropper" first, then cut.
